Optimes, a European project on Environmental Services
Objective
Supporting small and medium-sized entreprises to turn environmental chalenges into economic opportunities is one of the prioirites of the European Union.
OPTIMES project aims to give better knowledge and access to environmental services to companies from sectors of Agrofood, Textile, Building materials and Metals. These sectors are targeted because of their environmental impact and their socio-economic importance in the regions of the partners: See Overview of Sectors.
More particularly, the OPTIMES project focuses on Resource Efficiency in order to reduce environmental impact but also to face resources scarcity and the increasing costs of energy and raw materials.
Resource Efficiency means using the Earth's limited resources in a sustainable manner while minimising impacts on the environment. It allows us to create more with less and to deliver greater value with less input.The resource-efficient Europe flagship initiative is part of the Europe 2020 Strategy, the EU's growth strategy for a smart, inclusive and sustainable economy. It supports the shift towards sustainable growth via a resource-efficient, low-carbon economy.
Actions
During the years 2012-2013, partners are carrying out the following actions:
- Survey and environmental regional studies to identify SMEs needs and the offer of services in the regions
- Conclusion of Cooperation agreements with Environmental Services Providers to ensure that companies have access to a regional offer of services,
- Workshops and Individual services are offered to companies to raise their environmental awareness and help them to implement a resource efficiency approach,
- Compilation of good practices and success stories to raise visibility and dissemination among the Enterprise Europe Network

Optimes project is carried out in collaboration with partners in France, Spain, Germany, Greece, Bulgaria and Portugal, all members of Enterprise Europe Network
